El Gouna: Red Sea Riviera

Where the dunes of the Egyptian desert reach the turquoise waters of the Red Sea lies El Gouna, meaning “the lagoon,” a beautiful coastal town where graceful waterways meet thoughtful architecture, coming together in a setting that feels serene and effortlessly livable throughout the year. Since the first villas rose along its marina 36 years ago, El Gouna has grown steadily into a sustainable, cosmopolitan town, one that draws residents and visitors from around the world in search of something quieter: mornings spent swimming in calm lagoons, afternoons wandering between pastel facades, evenings unhurried and full of light. It is a town built on ease rather than excess, offering visitors and residents alike a rare kind of freedom found in few other places on the Red Sea.

Written by luxury travel journalist and editor Maria Shollenberger, with stunning photography by London-based photographer Felix Speller and illustrations by Greek artist Athan Mytilinaios, the title illustrates the town’s unique blend of luxury, community, and freedom. From elegant hotels and lively waterfront to its distinct cultural life, El Gouna: The Red Sea Riviera offers readers an intimate portrait of a well-designed, year-round vibrant town, and the life that has taken root within it.
